I know I'm way behind on getting these
photos posted, I'm trying to get caught up... These photos are
from my five visits during the month of June. They specifically
cover our efforts to restore the steel Ships Bell mounted on the front
of the antenna base on the bow.

the way from Canada to participate in this event. |
 |
|
June 2nd, I continued
to work on the Portside Wildcat, making progress... |
 |
June 9th, this is what
I found parked on the pier
when I arrived, pretty sweet but I'd prefer a '57. |
 |
|
June 9th, later in the
day the pier was full of vintage rides, pretty cool. |

|
June 9th, first day of
restoring the steel bell on the bow antenna mount. |
 |
June 9th, we had to
strip the failed clear coating off the
bell, sand it down and then prepare it for painting. |
 |
June 23rd, we spent
last Saturday and this morning finishing
the stripping and sanding of the bell. Here we see it in the
afternoon after a fresh coat of primer has been applied. |
 |
June 23rd, another shot
of the bell sporting a fresh coat of primer,
quite a difference can be seen after three Saturdays worth of effort.
|
 |
June 23rd, this is a
shot of the inside of the bell,
we removed the clapper to facilitate painting. |
 |
June 23rd, this shot
was taken while standing on the round
base of the bow antenna. I'd never been up there before,
but since I was there... I just had to snap a few. |

June 23rd, taken from same location,
looking up through the bow antenna. |

June 30th, my buddy
Bill (right) and his brother who visited the ship today. |
 |
June 30th, the clapper
is now back in place after the ships painter
has finished applying the final coat of paint and highlighted the
lettering. |
 |
|
June 30th, here is the
finished product, looks great! |
 |
June 30th, today was
the ships annual fundraiser, the 10th
annual Battleship Blast. After working on the bell and other
brass on the forecastle I took a quick shower and got changed
to enjoy the festivities. Here the ships CEO and I are checking
out the finished product. We rang it a couple of times and it
sounds great! Another awesome job by the Brass Team! |
