I was really glad to
see the Navy Chiefs and Selectees back onboard again today. This
marks the third year in a row they've spent a day on the ship
volunteering as part of their program. This year they stayed onboard
overnight and took part in a 9/11 Memorial Ceremony on the ship on
Sunday. The first four photos below show some of those guys in
action polishing brass. I always seem to have problems when taking
photos on the bridge, my camera doesn't deal well with the bright
outside light coming in through the windows, so sorry for the photo
quality. The remainder of the photos are in response to a request
from a former crewman, they are of Aft Main Battery Plot and Spot 2.

Okay Murphy, from here
on the rest of these photos are for you. The
next 15 photos were taken in and around Aft Main Battery Plot. Unlike
Forward Main Battery Plot, where we have done extensive work to
open that area to visitors, this area remains essentially as it was
when we received the ship. Since you are familiar with this area,
I'll skip the individual photo captions. |

OK, now we've climbed
up to the O2 level and entered the bottom of
the tower leading up to Spot 2. The next 13 photos go from this
level
up to the top of Spot 2. This is the small shop area at the bottom
of
the ladder. Again you know this area well so I'll skip the
captions. |

OK, that concludes the
photo tour of Aft Main Battery Plot and Spot 2.
Hope they brought back some good memories, maybe one of these days
you'll get to come back and visit yourself. The crew association
will hold
their reunion on the ship next year, that's always a pretty wild day! |
